Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Welcome to RealQuill. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are the agreement between you and RealQuill, an AI-assisted book-writing service operated by WovenBytes (the “Service,” “we,” “us”). Please read them — they are written to be understood, not to hide things. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What RealQuill is
RealQuill is an online writing room for authors. It helps you draft a manuscript against a story bible, keep your canon consistent, edit with AI assistance you review change-by-change, and bind a print-ready PDF and EPUB — all in one place. The Service is delivered over the web on a subscription and/or credit basis, described in Section 6.
2. Your account
You sign in through Google (a third-party identity provider); we never see or store a password. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to your Google account secure. One account is for one person — do not share credentials. You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or old enough to form a binding contract with a parent or guardian's consent, to use the Service.
3. Acceptable use
The Service is a tool for creating your own writing. When you use it, you agree that:
- You will not use it to create or distribute unlawful material, or content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- You have the rights to everything you upload or input — text, images, cover art, reference material — and to have us process it on your behalf.
- You will not use the Service to produce material that is defamatory, that exploits or endangers minors, that harasses or incites violence against others, or that is otherwise illegal where you or your readers are.
- You will not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' work, or use it to build a competing model or dataset.
- You will not resell or redistribute access to the Service without our written permission.
4. Your content is yours
You own your manuscripts, your uploads, and the outputs you create with the Service — full stop. We claim no ownership of your writing, your story bible, your covers, or anything you make here. To run the Service for you, you grant us only the limited, revocable license we need to store, back up, process, transmit, and display your content to you (and to anyone you explicitly choose to share it with). That license exists solely to operate the Service and ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual copies in routine backups that age out on our normal cycle. We do not train AI models on your manuscripts, and our model providers are contractually prevented from doing so — unless you explicitly opt in. An optional, clearly-labeled “Contribute & Earn” program (coming later) will let any user choose to share drafts and AI interactions to improve our models in exchange for monthly credit rewards; it is off by default, separate from these Terms, revocable at any time, and never required to use RealQuill on any tier. See the Privacy Statement.
5. AI-generated content — read before you publish
RealQuill uses AI models to help draft, edit, and format text and to generate images. AI output can be inaccurate, generic, biased, or unintentionally similar to existing work, and it may not be copyrightable in every jurisdiction. You are responsible for reviewing AI-assisted output before you rely on or publish it. Every AI edit in the editor is shown to you as a tracked change you accept or reject — nothing is rewritten behind your back — but the final judgment, and the responsibility for anything you publish or distribute, is yours. We make no promise that output is original, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose.
6. Credits, subscriptions & billing
Some features consume credits — drafting, AI edits, image generation, and binding draw down a credit balance you buy directly or receive with a subscription. Longer books and heavier operations use proportionally more credits; there is no artificial length cap. Before a large operation we show you an estimate against your balance. If an operation would cost more than you have, you can top up first, or explicitly choose the “run until your credits run out” option, which lets the job proceed and stop cleanly when the balance reaches zero. You are billed for the actual work performed, shown live as it runs.
Subscriptions renew automatically for the term you selected until you cancel; you can cancel at any time and keep access through the end of the paid period. Prices and plan details are shown at purchase. Taxes may apply. For a refund request or a billing question, contact billing@realquill.com; we review requests in good faith, and consumed credits are generally non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
7. Availability, beta status & no warranty
The Service is offered in beta and is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular output will be produced. Keep your own copies of work that matters to you — the export tools in Section 9 make this easy.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RealQuill and WovenBytes will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. To the extent any liability is not excluded, our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim, or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Termination & erasing your account
You may stop using the Service at any time. From Account → Export you can download a copy of everything you've made, and from Account → Delete you can permanently erase your account and your content yourself. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or that we're required to act on by law, and we'll make a reasonable effort to let you export your work first unless doing so is unlawful or unsafe. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (content ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) survive.
10. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
We respect intellectual property. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice with the required details (identification of the work, the material, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and your signature) to legal@realquill.com. We respond to valid notices, including by removing infringing material and, where appropriate, terminating repeat infringers.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [US STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located there, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to your local courts.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If we make a material change, we'll post the revised Terms here with a new “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
